MUSIC REVIEW: Wetin Dey By Jesse Jagz, A True Definition of Class.

Music Review: Jesse Jagz Wetin Dey
Wetin Dey is a song which will remain evergreen in the hearts of some Nigerian music lovers, no doubt nevertheless, the song is a good song. Although its not a new song or a song which is currently buzzing the airwaves but the song remains one of the best songs which was ever released by music producer, singer, and rapper, Jesse Jagz.
Jesse Jagz born as Jesse Garba Abaga is a younger brother to MI Abaga, he is the current CEO and leading artiste of Jagz Nation. Till date, he remains one of the respected musicians ever to come out of Northern Nigeria, unknown to you, he was one of the musicians who made up the Choc Boy crew made up of Ice Prince Zamani, Mi Abaga, and Brymo. Jesse Jagz remains ever dominant in the Nigerian music industry as he is a respected music producer, singer, and rapper. He is so versatile that it was acclaimed that he learned the dynamics and rudiments of music with his brother, MI Abaga right from his mother’s womb.
Wetin Dey was released by Jesse Jagz as at the time when he was being signed to the Chocolate City music label. As at the time when the song was released, it made waves as it was played in the clubs, music events, award ceremonies, parties and even weddings. Wetin Dey made the cut for his first and debut album which he (Jesse Jagz) released in 2010 with the name “Jag Of All Tradez”.
Wetin dey uncovers the secret behind the versatility and skillfulness of Jesse Jagz. The song is a song which is quite danceable and groovy as it makes me reminisce about the younger version of Jesse Jagz who was kinda razz with his flows. Wetin dey can be said to be a disco song but it shouldn’t be liked to pangolo music.
Wetin Dey is a slang in Nigerian pidgin English which means “Something is Here” or in better interpretation, it means the availability of a thing.
The song comes in three verses in which Jesse Jagz blessed the song with his charming vocals. Back then, the Disc Jockeys (DJs) never got tired of playing this party jam as it sets the whole atmosphere on fire anytime it is being played in events.
The tone of the song is a groovy one, though it shouldn’t be compared with the new school party jam in Nigeria such as Ycee Feat Maleek Berry - Juice, Wo by Olamide, Shaku Shaku by Dammy Krane, Soco by Wizkid Feat Terri, Spotless, Ceeza Milli or Science Student by Olamide. But this song brings back an old flavor of the kind of Nigerian music jams which was wavy back then.
Wetin Dey remains one of the best tracks on Jesse Jagz’s debut music album alongside Pump it Up, Nobody Test me featuring IcePrincee Zamani and MI Abaga, Sugar Cane baby, Number One, Love You Featuring Brymo, My Brother feat Lindsey.
Wetin Dey was produced by the producer extraordinaire (Extraordinary Producer) which is the slang or title which Jesse Jagz gave himself back then as a music artiste. Wetin Dey remains a wave, a remix of the song by Jesse Jagz shouldn’t be an exception because the song is quite evergreen. As a matter of fact, Jesse Jagz made a stage performance of Wetin Dey at the New Afrikan Shrine at Ikeja during Felabration 2016 in the honor of Afrobeats legend and pioneer, Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
Although this song has no video, the only thing we have on us is the mp3 version or file of the song on our devices, but that didn’t stop the wave of the song.
Is Wetin Dey by Jesse Jagz a hit or not?
